Electronic SuperSpeed 100!!

My Classroom has entered a new Dimension of WBT learning...Electronic SuperSpeed 100! Earlier this school year, I described the Universal Homework Model and the daily practice of Superspeed Reading. Students work daily at school and at home learning to read the 100 most common sight words as quickly as they can in one minute, breaking individual records as they go! Now, thanks to Coach Chris Biffle, my class has been able to step up that practice with the creation of Electronic SuperSpeed 100! Oh, yeah! Using a power point collection of 100 slides projected on my classroom board, my WHOLE CLASS is now able to participate together in beating Class Records in SuperSpeed 100! Just when I thought student engagement was on high, I find this program bumps it up another notch!! Oxygen, please!!We are practicing this twice a day, and the excitement and anticipation is awesome. No one loses in this arena! For a full description of this program, go to www.wholebrainteaching.com and watch Program #511 SuperSpeed 100 in the Video Library. Then go to Free Ebooks and download Electronic Superspeed 100. Now get ready to engage and learn! The fun is even Sweeter now! SuperSpeed and beyond!!!!

Counting Blessings!

What a special time of year to reflect on all our special blessings. As educators, this time of year is often the time we count down the hours 'til Thanksgiving Break! I know I can find myself wearing thin with all the behaviors that seem very exaggerated by the approaching holidays. Now, more than ever is the time to reach into those "back pockets" and pull out all those special tools that WBT offers! The Super Improvers Wall has been a lifesaver right now! I have 5 students who just reached the Iguanadon Level, which means, PICTURES!! I now have students suddenly trying to earn extra stars, so they can get to that Picture level! Universal Homework Model is on FIRE right now! Students are ASKING to write Poetry!! Yes, those are tears of joy! It's so big that the 2nd Grade classes are competing to earn those Team Stars so we can have a major Grade Level Mind Soccer game! Bring it on, Mrs. Blaze and Mrs. Kackley! Power Pix are swallowing up the wall! Daily Practice is a requirement every morning! And don't I know it if something comes up to change that morning routine! Genius Ladder is the common language for writing! Today, I had a student running into class waving her Homework, "I wrote three Because Clappers in my story last night!" Yep! Tears of joy again! So, in conclusion, I am counting my blessings this season, all 31 smiling faces!! Oh, yeah!!!!!

Parent-Teacher Conferences!

Yes, First Quarter is over! Parent Conferences are going full speed! It's a reflective time for parent and me alike as we come together to discuss student progress and next steps for instruction. It is so exciting this year to be able to offer new WBT strategies for parents to use at home including Universal Homework Model (UHM), Speed Read, and Speed Math. All allow their child to challenge himself at his own individual level. Through the UHM, students are stepping up their efforts to complete homework more carefully, and choosing to do EXTRA WORK with a reward of Mind Soccer for all those extra earned stars. Here's to Quarter Two!
